How do I sharpen a machete?
The machete I have is dull to almost being 1/16 of an inch on the blade. The sharpeners I use on steak knives don't work on it. Machetes are not made of good carbon steel so there is no reason to use a good sharpening tool on it.A good mill bastard file would do the job very well.Sharpen as if it was a lawn mower blade except on both sides,you aren't cutting filet mignon you are hacking brush with it. How to focus better? Well, I'm in 8th grade and I have to write an essay on things I like. I already wrote all my "Mighty Eight" paragraphs which take up about 2-3 pages in my notebook for each paragraph. Now I have to rewrite each "Mighty Eight" paragraph, and type it. My essay is due tomorrow. The problem is, though, I keep getting distracted. I started rewriting my first paragraph, and then I saw some yarn on my desk and I completely forgot about my essay, and I started playing wit the yarn. I was like tying it around things and stuff for like 15 minutes (I'm easily amused). Then I remembered my essay so I went back to rewriting. Five inutes later my pencil tip broke, and I couldn't find a sharpener, so I used a steak knife. Another 20 minutes passes and I have a million pencils around me all with carved faces and super pointy tips. Then I remember my essay so I go back to that. About 7 minutes later, I start thinking about the origami we did in math lab, and I get up and start making paper airplanes, and racing them down the stairs. After I realize I'm supposed to be doiing my essay, I start walking back to my desk and on the way I see some of my little plastic animal thingys. I start playing with them for about 5 minutes. Then I go back to my essay and work for about 3 minutes then start drifting off and thinking of other things. In all those intervals of about 5 minutes that I was working on my essay, I was all daydreamy and zoned out too so I only have 4 sentences of the first "Mighty Eight" paragraph done (and these paragraphs are about the size a regular essay). This happens to me all the time, but I usually have more time to get it done so it's never really a big problem, but now I really need to get this done because it's a big part of my grade. So, how can I focus better? In my opinion, if you've written all that without distracting, you can write your essay if you for example put a paper which says DO THE ESSAY OR DON'T DISTRACT and stick it somewhere visible or just say to you "DON'T DISTRACT, DON'T DISTRACT, DON'T DISTRACT", I think that if you propose not to distract, you won't do it. chan | Read more |
