Need a Flatware appraisal...?
I recently purchased six 1960's- era Robinson Knife Company Stainless Steak Knives in new, unused condition (paper wrappers, no box) for my wife's kitchen, but when I received them, they seemed so unusual that I thought I'd ask for an appraisal first before I did anything with them. There is an etching. "Robinson Stainless USA" on blade near handle. Could someone tell me if they have any collectible value? Thanks, Mike

For ten bucks, this guy can probably give you the right answer http://www.abesilverman.com/Appraisals.html

Who cares about Laws?
All around me I see unjust laws being made more and more in the USA. Is the government supposed to control us this way or is it supposed to serve us? I see laws being made which take away my ability to buy novelty/scientific hobby items such as high powered green lasers. I see laws being made which take away my right to freedom of religion by preventing me from purchasing and using some entheogens. This directly violates the constitution of the USA. I see laws being made which allow the murder of a human being depending on circumstances, weather it be capital punishment, assisted suicide, or abortion. I see laws which make no sense regarding gambling, a kid 16 years old can drive a car but cannot purchase a lotto ticket, which one is more dangerous? I see laws which cause females to feel insecure calling it "indecent exposure" if they walk around topless, while a male can do so even if he has gynecomastia (female breasts) and it is fine. (this is sexist discrimination) Females will admit they find flat chested men sexy, it is no different. Laws which allow the consumption of alcohol and tobacco yet restrict the use of marijuana, which is far less dangerous than either of the other two. Many of the things they illegalize have a duality of use, it can either be misused or it can be used for good. Kitchen knives have the same principle, I can use a knife with respect and cut my steak or I can misuse a knife and kill my family. Should kitchen knives be illegal? Martin Luther Kind Jr said "One who breaks an unjust law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law." What do you think about laws? I do not mean to rant, my question could not be asked in simple terms, I must give the answerer the global full picture so that they can grasp my question on a whole. In short, this is simply a very long question. LittleWahine78, you are correct - but how long before that right is taken away like so many others? Most my questions on Yahoo get removed because what you say is already being taken away, my freedom of expression, my freedom to ask questions which make people think etc.

The function of laws is to define punishment for crime so that when justice is served it is done so fairly. Laws are not intended to force people to conform to particular behavior. However, our legislators and police feel otherwise. Many people in the Country believe that we should all behave a certain way. Since they don't want to be active in promoting their desires or take on any responsibility they turn to government to do these tasks for them. And so hundreds of thousands of pages of laws later, every time somebody says, "there ought to be a law", we lose a little more freedom. Right and wrong, guilt or innocence, are to be judged by us, the people. If we decide wrong or guilt, the law is there to lay down punishment. That's not left up to us on purpose to avoid the "get out of jail free card" and the lynch mob. It's the reason why trial by jury exists. Were it not for trial by jury, free speech, and the right to defend oneself, government is permitted to run amok. If only more people knew about jury nullification. It is not the function of a jury to determine if a law was broken but to determine right or wrong. We need more freedom minded people taking jury duty, writing their legislators, and running for public office. Door knobs in public building are illegal in the US.
